About The Harvard Crimson's
Summer Journalism Academy
The Harvard Crimson's Summer Journalism Academy offers high school students the opportunity to immerse themselves in the ins and outs of an independent newspaper. SJA teaches students the fundamentals of journalism—article writing, best reporting practices, and even revenue generation—while providing insight into the workings of one of the leading collegiate journalism publications through current Crimson editors.
From July 8th-17th, attendees will participate in workshops, seminars, panels, and in-person reporting opportunities led by all the different boards of The Crimson, from News and Editorial to Art and Multimedia. By the end of the program, students will have developed a comprehensive journalism portfolio that can be submitted to competitions, colleges, and other publications. As they go on to navigate their own college admissions journeys, they will have the advice and support of Harvard undergraduates with a variety of backgrounds and interests.
The program will be held both in person at The Crimson's historic building in Cambridge, and virtually on Zoom. Summer Journalism Academy is always one of the most exciting times of the year here at The Crimson, and we encourage all passionate writers to apply for this transformative educational experience!
