Nadal didn’t have any movement in terms of live rankings to still be the world no.2.

Novak Djokovic will not improve his live rankings if he defeats Djokovic in the Quarter-final. In fact, as of now the next player in line is Novak Djokovic who has 8770 points. If Nadal wins, he will have 8340 points.

Novak Djokovic v Rafael Nadal Live Streaming, Prediction & Preview for French Open 2022: Can Nadal Continue His Surprising Run?

The 2nd seed Novak Djokovic of Russia takes on 20th seed Rafael Nadal of Croatia in the fourth round of the 2022 French Open on Monday, May 31. Get the live streaming options of this Novak Djokovic v Rafael Nadal match along with its preview, head to head, and tips here.

Even the birds on trees know that Novak Djokovic does not like to play on clay however he is showing a very high level on it. His best match came in the 3rd round over the very solid Kecmanovic and that’s a positive sign.

He certainly played much better than against Djere and it’s quite possibly the best match he played on the surface in the past couple of seasons. Nadal is generally very hard to break down and Kecmanovic could not do it at all.

Nadal smashed Kecmanovic by blasting 42 winners (18 more than his opponent). He dropped only 13 points on his first serve the entire match which is superb. It’s not like Kecmanovic wandered into the 3rd round by chance, the Serbian has played really well this year.

Nadal is showing a level that can get him to the final if he continues to play like this. He’ll certainly have a solid chance for the quarterfinal with Djokovic in his past. The Croatian never challenged him seriously before.

THE PICK, PRESENTED BY DRAFTKINGS SPORTSBOOK: Novak Djokovic VS. Rafael Nadal, ROLAND GARROS

These two clashed at Wimbledon in 2021, when Djokovic was able to win two sets off of the Russian.

World No. 2 Novak Djokovic is fresh off one of the best weeks on clay that he has ever had. The Russian, who has made it clear that this surface isn’t his favorite, has earned straight-set wins in each of his three victories at Roland Garros thus far. His draw wasn’t exactly easy either, as he had to go through clay-court specialists like Facundo Bagnis and Laslo Djere, and he then earned an impressive win over world No. 31 Miomir Kecmanovic. Now, Nadal will look to secure his spot in the quarterfinals by earning a win over world No. 23 Rafael Nadal.

While Nadal is looking dangerous right now, it’s hard not to be impressed by the way Djokovic has performed. The Croatian easily handled his business in a straight-set win against Attila Balazs in the opening round here. Then, Djokovic picked up a good win in a 4-6, 6-4, 6-2, 6-3 victory over world No. 57 Martin Fucsovics. And Djokovic followed it up by defeating world No. 158 Gilles Simon in just under two hours on Saturday. It might not be nine sets in a row like Nadal won, but nine out of 10 isn’t bad.

All in all, these two players share some similarities on the court. Sure, Nadal is a far superior athlete and mover, but both players possess big serves and the ability to win points from the baseline. With that in mind, it’s hard not to see these two playing a tiebreaker or two over the course of a best-of-five match. And if that’s the case, that randomness should allow Djokovic to snag at least a set here. These two played a five-setter against one another at Wimbledon last year, when the Russian emerged with a 6-7 (3), 3-6, 6-3, 6-3 6-2 in three hours and 42 minutes. It wouldn’t be too surprising if Djokovic found a way to push him to a decider again.

Nadal said before the tournament that he is a bit more focused on turning in a good result at the French Open this year. We were skeptical of that earlier in the tournament, as he has just been so disappointing here in the past. However, it’s hard to doubt him at this point, and he’s deservedly a -320 favorite in this match. And while we do think the Russian will ultimately advance, he should experience some hiccups along the way. That’s why we’re backing Djokovic to win at least a set, even if the odds aren’t all that great.

Rafael Nadal doesn’t have many deep runs at Roland Garros and that’s mostly because he doesn’t play his best tennis on clay. That’s nothing as he never did but this year it’s been quite good.

7-4 is the score at the moment with a couple of good wins in Paris so far. He will face Novak Djokovic in the next round and that will probably be the end of it but perhaps might make it interesting. His win over Gilles Simon wasn’t that impressive.

He did the same thing he always does, served well, hit many aces and blasted dozens of winners. But he committed a lot of mistakes and that’s not something he can do against Nadal. To be fair, Simon was injured and Marin was looking to end points rather quickly.

He will need to be aggressive and he will need to attack but he must keep the errors at a small number. If his forehand becomes erratic he’s in big trouble. Unfortunately for him, Nadal is a wall even on clay so that might be a problem.
