Defending Indy 500 champion Hélio Castroneves is aiming for a fifth title when the 2022 Indianapolis 500 blasts off this afternoon. The Brazilian ace faces stiff competition from pole-sitter Scott Dixon and ex-F1 driver Takuma Sato. It's a hot and dry day at the Speedway which should lead to some clean racing with plenty of pace. Aussies can watch the legendary 500-mile race free on Stan while those in the US can use NBC or Peacock. Make sure you know how to watch an Indy 500 live stream from wherever you are in the world.
The 2022 Indy 500 is here, and Helio Castroneves is looking to make history during the biggest day on the racing calendar.
Castroneves is currently in a four-way tie with A.J. Foyt, Rick Mears and Al Unser for the most Indy 500 wins with four. The 47-year-old Brazilian can become the first driver to win "The Greatest Spectacle in Racing" five times if he wins on Sunday.
Castroneves is starting 27th of the 33 drivers in the field, so he will have to win from the back of the pack. That said, he wasn't expected to contend for the race win last year but ended up taking the checkered flag. Perhaps fortune will be on his side again.
Of course, catching the likes of Scott Dixon, Alex Palou, Rinus VeeKay and the other drivers situated near the front of the race won't be easy. Still, Castroneves' pursuit of a fifth Indy 500 victory will be one of the many great stories on display at the race.
Here's all the information you need to watch the Indy 500 on Sunday.

2022 Indy 500: Start time, lineup, live stream, TV info for 106th running at Indianapolis
The "Greatest Spectacle in Racing" is mere hours away as Indianapolis Motor Speedway will bring back a full house for the 106th running of the Indianapolis 500.
After two years of reduced capacity because of the COVID pandemic, the grandstands and infield will once again be full to witness the Memorial Day weekend mainstay with the possibility that history could be made on more than one front.
After Scott Dixon broke the record for fastest pole-qualifying speed last weekend and combined with Alex Palou and Rinus VeeKay for the fastest front row in Indy 500 history, there's a chance the race's record speed could be broken Sunday as well. And as it turns out, that record was set last year by Helio Castroneves, who will be chasing more history on Sunday.
