WHAT IS THE HARVARD CRIMSON'S COLLEGE ESSAY ADVISING?

The Harvard Crimson College Essay Advising is a college essay consulting and editing service run exclusively by writers at The Harvard Crimson, the nation's oldest continuously published daily college newspaper. Many of The Crimson’s alumni have gone on to lead successful careers writing at esteemed organizations such as The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Wall Street Journal. Through The Crimson's College Essay Advising program, high school seniors are able to connect with some of the best collegiate writers in the nation, receiving direct feedback on their work in 1-on-1 advising and essay editing sessions. Not only are our advisors fantastic writers, they are also intimately familiar with the college admissions process, having just applied to colleges themselves! Armed with this first-hand experience, our advisors can help students perfect their applications and maximize their chances in the college admissions process.
HOW DOES IT WORK?

The Harvard Crimson's College Essay Advising program can be beneficial for students at any stage of their college essay writing journey. From students who haven't yet written a single word to students who are already on their fifth draft, all are welcome! For those who are in the earlier stages of the process, our coaches can guide students through the brainstorming process and help them develop a strong basis for their essay. For those who are further along in the process, our team specializes in drawing on their journalism expertise to offer targeted essay editing sessions for students to refine their work.
Upon signing up for your first session, you will receive access to our exclusive Personal Narrative Essay Module. Our module serves as a comprehensive introductory guide on how to expertly craft a standout college essay, from how to find the right topic to tips and tricks for writing your personal narrative.
Registered students are paired with a mentor based on their academic interests, extracurriculars, and colleges they are applying to. We offer flexible scheduling, using a system through which students are able to coordinate session times directly with their mentors.

We highly recommend starting with reviewing our module to familiarize yourself with the concepts, followed by 1-on-1 brainstorming sessions and, subsequently, by several 1-on-1 editing sessions until the essay is fully college-ready.
